Magpie Shrike

In the zoo’s aviary, a small but striking magpie shrike named Echo captivates visitors with his bold black-and-white plumage and melodic song. Magpie shrikes are known for their social behavior and ability to mimic sounds, and Echo is no exception. He often delights visitors by imitating whistles or other birds in the aviary.

Echo’s enclosure is a carefully designed replica of the African savanna, complete with thorny bushes and open spaces where he can showcase his natural behaviors. Zookeepers often hide food items like insects and small fruits for him to find, keeping his mind and instincts sharp. Echo’s presence highlights the diversity of Africa’s birdlife and the importance of protecting their natural habitats from human encroachment.
