Toco Toucan

The toco toucan, with its vibrant orange beak and striking black-and-white plumage, is a favorite among zoo visitors. A toucan named Tango resides in a spacious aviary filled with tropical plants and branches for climbing. Tango’s bright beak, while seemingly heavy, is surprisingly lightweight and helps him pluck fruit from trees with precision.

Tango enjoys a diet of fruits, insects, and the occasional small vertebrate, all carefully prepared by zookeepers to match his nutritional needs. Visitors are often amazed by his playful personality and his unique call, which echoes through the aviary. Toucans like Tango are important ambassadors for the rainforests, teaching visitors about the threats of deforestation and the importance of preserving tropical habitats.
